Welcome to our ride page, Atlanta to Asheville, Thunder on the Parkway, Leaving out on June 9, 2012. The Meeting place is the Wild Wings Café in Gainesville. 311 Jessie Jewell Parkway, 30501. Kick stands up early at 0700! This is a great spring ride. Up to Asheville/Maggie Valley and back. A day or 3 of fun with old friends and new, on the best road in the Eastern USA! This will be the ride of the year for local BON members. We will be on the bikes 90 % of the day, so come ready to ride! Since the inception of the ride, a lot of great things have happened. PARKWAY HARLEY DAVIDSON in Asheville says they will feed us. $7 a plate - Western Carolina BBQ, at the dealership. Will be needing a head count, so they can plan ahead. This is a great stopping point to meet and greet more riders that are joining us! Then it's on to MAGGIE VALLEY. They are kicking off the fun on June the 8th, so there will be peeps there, to see over 200 motorcycles THUNDER off the parkway on the 9th! The Maggie Valley Fairgrounds will be ours. An afternoon and evening of Music, Cold Beer, and Vendors. Music to be set up by the same outfit that does the Atlanta Music Festival. For the one's who are staying over, Maggie Valley is a great place to spend some time in the mountains. The motel association is our premiere sponsor. Before we get there, please make reservations to stay at one of their recommended biker friendly lodges, resorts, motels, or camping facilities. LOTS to see and do in those mountains.... Wheels of Time motorcycle museum, Gatlinburg, Cades Cove, Biltmore Estate, Grandfather Mountain, Lake Lure , Cherokee Casino, The Dragon's Tail, Deal's Gap. MANY scenic rivers and Mountains. I have been asked what our cause is. We have selected Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA). Also Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway foundation. Both good non-profit organizations. This is a donation ride so be generous! $20 suggested. Wild Wings and AJ's in Gainesville is where it all starts. 6 pm on Friday June 8. Registration and sign up. Have license and proof of insurance with you! We will have T shirts available to purchase, to help pay for escorts and ride costs. We are getting 3 counties involved. There will also be group rides home. KSU on Sunday from the Wheels of Time Museum at 1300, and KSU on Monday at 1300 from the Chamber of Commerce for those who wish to join up. If you need a place to store a trailer please let me know, I’ll arrange it for all who need to park a trailer in a secure area. I have gotten several questions concerning lodging the night before the ride since KSU is 0700. Gainesville is the best place to stay. Plenty of restaurants and lodging.
